WHAT IS PLATELET RICH PLASMA?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing. In aesthetic its a skin rejuvenation procedure. We are using a centrifuge to harness the power of Your own serum when Your blood cells were separated from it. The resulted serum contains two-part; one of the Platelet Poor Plasma and the other of the Platelet Rich Plasma (or PRP for short). The PRP serum can be used in two ways, by injecting the serum into the skin or by using a micro-needle implement to make microchannels to infuse the PRP into the skin. PRP treatment will activate the cascade of the natural collagen stimulation process, thus making your skin firmer and tighter. In the case of the micro-needling approach, it also can be used as a skin resurfacing technique and to minimize the appearance of the pores and fine lines.
IS PRP FOR YOU?
Platelet Rich Plasma is a great method that will fit anyone since it yields very good results. It can be used on any skin type. This method is fast-acting, and it provides great results with minimal downtime. Mind that, the micro-needling approach does have a bit of downtime and facial redness might appear, approximately lasting until three days after the procedure. You can consult with our Puriva Doctor who will explain how this treatment can benefit your condition.
HOW DO WE DO THE PRP TREATMENT?
After a thorough consultation with Puriva Doctor, then You are ready for treatment, with the following steps:
- The Doctor or Nurse will draw your blood and prepare the PRP serum, which takes 45 mins to be made.
- The Doctor or Nurse will clean your skin from makeup, dust, or sunblock.
- The nurse will apply an anesthetic cream to numb the treatment area.
- We will put antiseptic before administering the injection (please let us know if you have any allergy to antiseptics or alcohol).
- Our Doctor will inject or use microneedle according to the area of treatment.
- The nurse will apply a cooling gel mask to soothe down the skin.
- The nurse will apply post-treatment cream and sunblock.
- That’s it and we are done!
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AFTER PRP TREATMENT?
If your skin is sensitive, you might have injection spots or bruises. No need to worry if this happens as you can cover it with makeup concealer, and it will be gone in around three to seven days after the procedure. It will not affect the result of the PRP. With the micro-needling method, expect some redness that will recede in 2-3 days, as well as mild peeling that might happen as the recovery settles in.
WHAT TO DO OR NOT TO DO AFTER PRP?
After PRP we will ask you to:
- Do not do strenuous exercise, swim, or sun tanning for the first 72 hours after procedure.
- Do not do facial or massage or laser treatment over the treated area for at least 2 weeks.
- Do not use any makeup and creams that contain peeling agents for the first 5 days after the treatment.
- That’s all
WHEN CAN YOU SEE THE RESULT AND HOW LONG IT LASTS?
PRP results will appear around 2-3 weeks after the treatment. You will see a more even skin tone, better skin suppleness, and in addition to the tightening effect. When you do the PRP and microneedle, you can expect improvements in the post-acne scar, reduce the size of your pores, and tightening of your skin in 3-4 weeks.

ANY OTHER THINGS THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT PRP?
If you have blood abnormalities or anemia, then this treatment might not be recommended for you. Usually, we will draw approximately 40cc of blood. Do not worry as it is very minimal and it will not make you sick or weak. PRP in general will need to be repeated depending on your goal and the skin condition. Repetition is normally recommended to be done within 1 month, for the frequency of three times, and then once every six months. Treatment combination with laser or light-based energy will be an extra-added benefit to make a better skin tone. Consult our Puriva Doctor for more information.
